The Image Recognition (IR) technology is reliant upon sufficient environmental light to trigger recognition of the target image i.e. outdoors. Highly reflective surfaces or too much light may result in distorting optimal viewing experiences or appear to malfunction.
Normal internal lighting i.e. within a room is usually sufficient; however, in very dark environments with inadequate ambient lighting, the viewing experience maybe poor or appear to malfunction. This situation can be rectified by proper illumination.
Other external factors impacting AR Experiences
- The lighting conditions of your environment
- The device camera focus mode
- The uploaded image target as rated by our Experience Management System (EMS) i.e. Red, Amber or Green
- The viewing angle – is the camera facing the target directly or is the camera facing the target from a steep oblique angle? (Hint: camera needs to focus relatively straight on the target image.)
